Q: I think I have two left feet. What can I do?

A: John’s Jive has no fancy footwork to worry about and all the moves are taught step by step, hand by hand. So what if you have two left feet - bet we can get them moving to the music!

Q: I don’t think I’m fit enough

A: You will definitely improve your fitness if you dance regularly, but this isn’t a gym workout. We go at a pace to suit all and there’s plenty of time for a breather. Anyway, you can move at your own pace, there’s no pressure and lots of seating near the bar.

Q: I don’t think I’m flexible enough

A: While your flexibility will almost certainly improve if you join us regularly, you don’t need to be made of rubber to do modern jive. In fact, we have people who’ve still danced with back injuries, broken legs and dodgy arms (none of which were done while dancing we hasten to add!)

Q: I don’t think I can afford it

A: For less than the price of a couple of drinks, you can be gracing the dancefloors at parties, weddings, clubs, pubs and your own living room. It’s a small investment with a big happy return.

Q: I don’t have a partner

A: You don’t need to bring anyone - just your hands and feet. You’ll dance with many different people on the night anyway.

Q: What if no one wants to dance with me

A: Everyone at John’s  Jive asks everyone else to dance - it’s part of modern jive culture. After all, it’s what we’re all there for.

Q: I’ve done some dancing before. Should I join intermediates or beginners?

A: We encourage all of our intermediates to also dance through the beginners class anyway. You can always improve and you have great fun - it’s still dancing after all. Come to the beginners, then stay on through till the intermediates. That way you’ll get two classes and two freestyle sessions.
